SamELyon complex in Samokov officially opened
President Rumen Radev and Patriarch Daniel participated in the ceremony
On June 19, 2025, a solemn ceremony was held to open the multifunctional hotel, sports and recreation and residential complex SamELyon - a large-scale investment of "Samel - 90" AD, implemented in the city of Samokov.
The heating, ventilation and air conditioning part was designed and implemented by the company "Toplik".
Among the official guests were President Rumen Radev, His Holiness Daniil - Patriarch of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia, Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, the mayor of Samokov Eng. Angel Dzhorgov, representatives of sports federations, public figures and many local residents.
In his welcome address, President Rumen Radev stated:
“The future belongs to those nations that invest not only in high technologies, economy, science and art, but also in sports, in patriotic education and in the development of the potential of children from an early age.”
He described SamELyon as “a bold and visionary investment that creates real prospects for the future of Samokov and the region,” emphasizing that the project is “a symbol of the great ambitions of the transparent and innovative Bulgarian business that is now aware of its strength and a symbol of the noble mission in the service of society.” “This is not just a complex, there are such in many places in Bulgaria. But here there is a revival spirit that unites people with common ideas,” the president added.
On the holiday day, His Holiness Patriarch Daniil consecrated the complex and stated:
“This is a prerequisite for better development, because many people will come here to rest, play sports, meet, communicate, and this will be for the common benefit and personal salvation.”
He also sent a personal blessing to the creator of SamELyon, Eng. Petar Georgiev:
“From the bottom of our hearts, we wish that God will give you a generous abundance of all his blessings, but most of all that you will decorate your spiritual home and that it will become a temple of God. May God’s grace dwell in it and that it will make you happy, that it will enliven you and help you to glorify God with a pure heart.”
During the event, Eng. Petar Georgiev, executive director and chairman of the Board of Directors of "Samel - 90", and the main driver behind the realization of the complex, shared: "I have no words to describe what I have faced - from the idea of making a dormitory for employees of 'Samel 90' to getting to this complex. I thank God for keeping me alive to realize this idea, which dates back ten years. The construction took five. I thank the architects, the builders, the entire team - to everyone who spared no effort to make this complex." He added: "The facility is for Samokov residents and I will always be happy to see this hall so full. Above all, the children - the future of Samokov, will use it." The festive evening ended with a concert program and a solemn fireworks display - the culmination of a day in which faith, effort, vision and social responsibility came together in one.
